Samsonvale Recipe House

Description

The setting for this house is on a 40 acre rural property located in the Samford Valley which commands magnificent valley and rural views.

This home won the HIA Brisbane Region Energy Efficient Home of the Year and Best Individual Home Valued $550-$850,000 in 2006 and was featured in the QWeekend as a leading energy efficient outer-Brisbane home.

The Samsonvale house incorporates all the principles of Recipe Housing and has been built to maximise the views, minimise environmental impact, and provide affordable, energy efficient living for the life cycle of the home.

Recipe House living pods contour with the site and are connected through breezeways, giving the home a light and airy feel.  Outdoor spaces are brought in to the key living areas through large windows and foldable doorways, allowing the home owners to fully integrate their covered outdoor space with their indoor living.

As with all Recipe Houses, passive heating and cooling were fundamental to the design, and the house orientation maximises solar and water collection further minimising energy costs for the 25 yr life cycle of the home.
